Ad Targeting

Are ads matched to what a user is browsing on the site?

Yes, if the advertiser chooses to use targeting. We have quite a few options available — best to check our knowledge base for the full picture: https://mageads.com/docs/knowledge-base/admin-panel/create-campaign#step-5-targeting

What targeting options are available on the platform?

  • GeoTargeting — target by location (regions, cities, area exclusions).
  • Technical Targeting — target by device type, browser, or operating system.
  • Frequency Capping — limit how many times the same user sees a given ad within a set time period.
  • Profile Targeting — target based on shopping behaviour (e.g. viewed products, added to cart, order history) with the ability to exclude specific groups.

How do you distinguish targeted campaigns from non-targeted ones?

Right now, targeting details are visible within each campaign. During the approval process you'll naturally look at the campaign anyway — if the targeting tabs are active, it's immediately clear that targeting is enabled and what it covers. We're also open to UI suggestions — for example, adding icons on the campaign list to flag active targeting at a glance would be a quick improvement to implement.

Can we exclude specific products or search terms from ad targeting?

Yes. Just remove the relevant products or entire categories from the product feed that's imported into the platform. Without that data, the system can't link a product to a user, so targeting on those products simply won't happen.
