Ad Display

What does a user see if an ad fails to load?

We assume something will always be there. If there's no active campaign, the slot simply disappears — as if there was never a banner there in the first place. No empty space, no layout issues. A good practice is to set up a permanent fallback campaign for Display placements. For Sponsored Products, this isn't a concern.

Can more than one ad appear in the same placement?

Yes, if that's what you want. You can assign multiple campaigns to a single placement, or just one at a time. For Display, campaigns are served on an impression basis in priority order: your own campaigns first, then those with the highest CPM.

Can ads look different depending on where they appear on the site?

Definitely. The homepage might feature a brand awareness campaign — display or video. A product page might show related products instead. When setting up a campaign, you choose the specific target locations: home page, category, product, search results.

Will ads look good on mobile devices?

Yes. Our integration method ensures responsive content and covers the vast majority of cases out of the box. For very specific placements with unusual layouts, we can use a dedicated mobile version of the banner. Everything can be previewed and checked before a campaign goes live.

Can ads slow down our site or hurt the user experience?

As part of the integration, we set an appropriate timeout (400–500 ms) for responses from our server. If we don't respond within that window, the page loads normally without waiting. In practice, our response times are between 120 and 200 ms, so users won't notice any difference.

Scripts run asynchronously, so page loading is never blocked. Details in the docs: https://mageads.com/docs/api/overview#timeout
